Beginning life in 1970, The Gulf Stream called Houma, LA its birthplace. Constructed by Quality Equipment Inc, she was sent to start her career at the Gulf Mississippi Marine yard in Houston, TX. Soon though they found themselves purchased by another company, Gulf Fleet Marine Inc, where she remained under the same name and duty.
By 1976, The Gulf Stream had found a new home in Louisiana, where she was renamed the Demarco XII by the Defelice Marine Towing Co. This however would be short lived as they were bought by the Gulf Fleet Marine Inc 3-4 years later, for which the Demarco XII would be sold again.
After the acquiring of her last company in 1979, the Demarco XII was sold to Knappton Towboat Co. Here she was renamed the Astoria and spent her time on the coasts of Oregon. By 1988, Knappton Towboat had migrated up to Seattle, Washington and renamed themselves the Brix Maritime Co.
In 1993 the Brix Maritime Co. merged with Foss Maritime, where the Astoria joined their large fleet. She was famously renamed the Halle Foss, and was a well known vessel serving impressively alongside her counterparts.
After many years tending to Foss's needs, the Halle Foss found a new home here at Star Marine in 2016. We named her the Seabold, and since she has been the mightiest of our fleet. With both the grandest size and highest power, the Seabold is a true symbol of our drive to bigger and brighter futures. To this day she works steadfast hauling our largest contracts around Puget Sound. Truly the Seabold is a mighty sight to behold.
With a large tug comes a large wheelhouse. The wheelhouse is jam packed full of equipment to help navigate our captains to achieve their goals. The wheelhouse embodies all those whom have come before, with modern systems integrated seamlessly into a vintage canvas.
Spanning much of the tug, the engine room is outstandingly spacious. She hosts two CAT D 3512's packing a massive 2,400hp. This joined with a 5:1 gear ratio, the Seabold and tow an amazing 50,000lb.
Not only is the Seabold a powerhouse for work, but it is also a great place for crew to relax after a long job. With a large, open plan galley, the Seabold has all the amenities a seaman needs to unwind. A deckhand will find themselves able to cook a hearty feast keeping moral and productivity at an all time high.
The Seabold is a triumph of power, and to unlock its full might, its winches must rise to the same formidable strength. Using an Intercontinental DD150 winch, she can house two 1 1/4 inch lines. This behemoth of a winch can pull up to 250,000lb without breaking a sweat.
