Makai Magnuson
Having grown up in the tug boat industry, Makai knows the ins and outs of his work without fault. Having been a Washingtonian throughout his life, he calls the Puget sound home; riding the waters on his many boats, both for work and pleasure. Makai is a fully qualified tug boat captain, leading many of Star Marines voyages spanning from Alaska to California. Not only is he a captain, but he is the CEO of his company. Running the day to day operations, he ensures every detail is done to the best standard possible.
Our Boat Crews
Our crews often help each other, swapping from boat to boat and covering a wide variety of tasks. They all take a personal responsibility in the wellbeing and maintenance of their vessel ensuring that they're always ready for the work at hand.
Our crews are never limited by their regular runs however. All of our boats and barges are used for a vast variety of hauling and towing jobs. If there is a need, Star Marine and it's crew will find a way to provide.

The D.O.C. Crew
The D.O.C. crew run our state contracts with the Washington State Department of Corrections, running barges to and from McNeil Island. They specialize in a quick turn around, getting people and supplies delivered quickly and safely across the water. Although this service is not available to the public in any way, you may see them from afar in Steilacoom, as they expertly maneuver from dock to dock.

The Logging crew run our Paper Mill service, delivering massive logs between Port Angeles and Everett . They expertly tow hundreds of tons of lumber each day to ensure no disruptions come to our partners. They traverse the waters towing Kashega, the largest barge in our fleet.

The Construction crew run our construction contracts around the clock. Be it hauling a crane across the sound, or helping a dredging project run unimpeded 24 hours a day, they're always ready at a moments notice. These mariners find themselves traversing across all of Washington. As these jobs can vary, they often find themselves adapting to the task at hand.

Much like our boat crews, our yard workers are family through their love and passion for Star Marine. With our dedicated administrative team, and industrious repair crew they keep everything afloat.
From regulations to celebrations, our admin staff go above and beyond. Tackling all of Star Marine's needs, keeping our day to day operations running smoothly, and persisting through the paperwork so we come out on top.
With repairs always needed, our dedicated yard crew work hard to restore any faulty boat or barge to working order. Each team member brings their own expertise, and together, they have yet to encounter a problem the cannot solve.
